Expanded polystyrene (EPS) 

--- is a rigid and tough, closed-cell foam. It is usually white and made of pre-expanded polystyrene beads. EPS is used for many applications e.g. trays, plates, bowls and fish boxes. Other uses include molded sheets for building insulation and packing material for cushioning fragile items inside boxes. Sheets are commonly packaged as rigid panels,  which are also known as "bead-board".

The manufacturing cost of EPS block

We will set 6 meters EPS block production line as example
Barrel Diameter 1300mm—1
6000x1200x1000mm block molding machine, with cutter, recycle system and so on. 
Density: 15kg /m3, 2 tons output steam boiler.

We will calculate the cost per cubic meter block. 

SIZE	1 cubic meter, density 15kg/m3 the weight is around 15kg
Raw material consumption	USD1200/1000kg, USD1.2/kg
	USD18 for 15kg
Power and steam consumption for one cubic meter ,density 15g/l EPS block	Pre-expander 650kg/hour in density 15g/l 400 kg steam /hour 24.5 kw		0.8kw power consumption
			9.2 kg  steam
	Block molding machine 37.5kw, 70% is real consumption,  6x1.2x1m , 7 blocks per hour		0.525 kw power consumption
			15 kg steam cost
	Cutting machine 22.5kw		0.45 kw power consumption
	Recycle system 37kw ,		5% of recycled material , Then , 0.09 Kw for 0.75kg recycle material
	Compressor and water pump, steam boiler (22kw+12 kw+ 10 kw) 70 % real power sonsumption		50m3/hour production, The power consumtion 40kw. Then 0.61kw
	Total	Power consumpation	2.475kw×USD0.17/kw=USD0.42 (in China 0.17usd/Kw)

Cost of oil 133 kg oil consumption	Diesel oil consumption for 1 ton steam boiler is 133 kg. output steam 2000 kg The price of diesel is 0.90USD/kg.  Per kg steam will cost 0.059USD That mean, 0.896kg steam will cost: USD1.45
Labor cost	5 workers, USD1per hour each person，50m3 /hour, That mean: USD0.1 /m3
water consumption ,	2.2 ton water per hours, USD1 /ton water,  0.044USD/m3
Total cost for 1 cubic meter, density 15g/l	USD18+USD0.42+USD1.45 +USD0.1+0.044=USD20.014
